So.... I will get to the roommate in a bit.
Saturday evening we went to watch Ferris Bueller's Day Off at a park with some Habitat peeps. Not crowded at all, pretty chill and a ton of fun! Now, Anne (a good friend of Mindy's and mine) was unable to make it to New Orleans... well, as my sister can attest, if you can't make an event, I WILL make a large, laminated, xerox copy of your head and include you in pictures. Thus, Anne also saw Ferris Bueller.... however, she had a bit too much to drink (we have two copies of Anne's head, one smiling, one with a goofy face).
After that we went to a party for the Habitat Americorp volunteers (for those doing the program for a year, it was there last day). Next, we went with the Canadians to Bourbon Street. Once again, Bourbon Street is fun for maaaaaybe an hour.
Now for Sunday: Gospel Brunch as the House of Blues! Can I get an AMEN? Great food (yummy cheese grits) and great music! We walked around the French Quarter for a bit. Then we walked around the Garden District.
After that we went home and took naps (naps are good). Then we met some friends at Lost Love Lounge to watch True Blood!!!!! Sad goodbyes to some of my new friends through Habitat:(
Today, Mindy and I went to Lafayette Cemetery in the Garden District and then St. Louis Cemetery where we saw the tomb of the Voodoo Queen Marie Laveau. Mindy and I left tribute at her grave and our wish was granted... he he he.
After that we drove along River Road and looked at a few plantations... and snuck on one because we didn't want to pay $15 for a guided tour. Then we shared a Mint Julep.
For dinner we went to Praline Connection where Mindy had some alligator sausage (her daughter's response was: ewwwwww), I had mac n' cheese, fried shrimp and red beans and rice.
So.... roommate. Before dinner we swung by the house to let in the guy who was subletting the weird guys room. Well... I had to warn him and his girlfriend. Poor guy... he's taking the BAR on Friday, was suppose to get into the apartment this morning (Jon texted him at noon... then proceeded to avoid him and not let him in the house) and had to find a hotel to sleep in tonight. Luckily I had found a copy of The Economist (yes, wacko roommate reads) with his parents address on it.... thus a phone call was placed to his parents (by the girl who had sublet the room). His mom was concerned about her son (maybe because he's a spoiled rich kid whose also dealing/doing drugs?) and then said she would pay for a cleaning service and a hotel, once she saw pictures.... luckily we had plenty!! Now, the new guy and the girl who leased the apartment hadn't heard from the family for awhile so they called back (by the way, parents have a secretary service). Got a hold of dad, who was on the phone to the cleaning service, but refused to pay for the hotel. Proceeded to claim that his son never even lived in the apartment, that he'd been living somewhere else the whole time...... Dude, then why were you calling a cleaning service? Good thing his son had mail sent here and left a bike receipt here and gave me the key to the apartment, password to the wifi for the apartment and explained to me that he cooked using the toaster oven in the kitchen because there were not pots. All obvious signs that he didn't live here. So, the druggie roommate did get all of his crap out of the apartment, and took a broom/mop to the kitchen, but the bathroom is still out of a horror movie. That's it for now.......
